This Week @ Work 12-02-11

Another week has come and gone and here we are again, dear friends. I hope you’ve enjoyed our unplanned Wild West and Aliens week, we sure did. If you haven’t already, check out Jared’s Star Wars Blu-Ray Collection review, Courtney’s All-Star Western and Cowboys & Aliens review.

Courtney L Varner
What I’m reading: This week I started re-reading the dreaded Clone Saga for research on a new article about Marvel’s planned Scarlet Spider series that we reported on earlier today. See the pain I put myself through for you people? Just picked up 11-22-63 from the library yesterday, plan on reading it over the weekend.
What I’m Playing: League of Legends. Seriously, since I finished the Star Wars the Old Republic beta on Monday it’s all the gaming I’ve done. Getting better, against bots anyways. Had a great time Wednesday night playing with two friends who decided to use me as a meat shield to win the game. I am proud to die a martyr to help my friends win. Playing as Nasus that seems to happen a lot.

What I’m Watching: Playing the Old Republic made me want to watch Star Wars again, so I watched the original, unedited trilogy over the week. Also Cowboys & Aliens.`

What I’m playing: Um…what sort of heathen isn’t playing Skyrim still? I genuinely don’t understand. Mass Effect 3 doesn’t come out for another three months. There’s nothing left for me to do in the meantime except play Skyrim. My level 17 Khajiit mage/rogue just enrolled in the college at Winterhold. More importantly, my Khajiit mage/rogue killed a fucking bear. It was the craziest battle I’ve been in. Keep in mind, that’s including the 5 dragons I’ve killed.

What I’m reading: Okay, so my Song of Ice and Fire Hardcover Box Set just came in today. That means I’ve got a shitload of reading to do. Before I get into that, I’m going to have to knock out the other comics I’ve been talking about reading for the last few weeks. I did knock out the Vampire Jubilee the other day. It was…you know what? It was bad. I did not like it. I’m rarely critical of the X-Men. That’s my fanboy weakness. I love those mutants. But that story was pretty shitty. I’ve got a couple more trades in my stack left to read, including the first trade in the New X-Men series by Christopher Yost. It was ongoing back when I was reading comics a few years ago. Now that I’m catching up on my books, I want to get to know the backstory of Rockslide, X-23, Elixir, Dust and the others. Oh, and Pixie. I don’t know why, but I really really like Pixie.

It's equal parts genuinely interesting character and goddamn fuckable Terry Dodson artwork.

What I’m watching: It’s a bummer, but I still haven’t had much time to watch anything. I did have a chance to check out Assassin’s Creed: Embers. The short film was a bonus for those of us who preordered Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. If you’re getting sucked into the discussions about where Assassin’s Creed III is going to take place, Embers is a strong argument for the next game taking place in China. I’d prefer to not spoil too much here, but Shao Jun is clearly the successor to Ezio’s throne as the leader of the Assassins. Regardless, if you can find it, Embers is a great little film. Even more than Revelations, Embers provides that truly satisfying, if not a touch heartbreaking, closure to the tale of Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

On a scale of 1-10, how gay does it make me if this made me tear up a little bit?
